Welcome! My name is Cynara Akemi Mori. I was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. I hail from a mixed background of Japanese and German ancestry. This has given me a wacky sense humour a keen attention to detail and an appreciation for the natural world. As a hybrid and outsider I am always one to side with the under-dog!
I am inspired by Japanese Mythology and folklore. But mostly I approach my work as a channel. I try as much as possible to not bring intentions or ego into the creative process, but let some higher power guide my hands.
I believe a person’s ancestry and roots connect them to their source of spiritual power. I aim to help people find meaning and reverence through meaningful objects in a sacred context.
My creative path has led me from graffiti, to Watercolor to finally Ceramics! My first love in Ceramics was Japanese Raku. Having suffered a tragic loss, the clay has been there to heal me and draw out the grief.
I hope you like my Shop! Please reach out for anything. I always here to help and I am of the old school where I believe the customer is always right!
